The popular Cremino confection can trace it’s history back to the late nineteenth century.  The foundation of the sweet is Torino’s famous hazelnut flavored gianduia chocolate.  Traditionally, two layers of rich, creamy gianduia are shaped into squares with a middle layer varying in flavors such as hazelnut cream, coffee cream or dark chocolate.  A four layered version still found today was created in 1911 for a competition sponsored by Fiat Auto to help introduce a new car model!

Valenza Chocolatier’s take on the Cremino sandwiches a layer of velvety cappuccino flavored white chocolate gianduia (hazelnut) in between layers of luscious milk chocolate gianduia (hazelnut).  Instead of the usual individually wrapped squares, Valenza presents their Cremino as a bonbon, wrapped in a rich, smooth layer of 61% dark chocolate.  The final product is a luxurious treat, perfect when paired with an espresso.
